Live Theater. The Loneliest Monk Composes Score for BAAL.
Monday, August 24th, 2009Welcome to the World of The Monk!
Our latest endeavor marks a path down the theater realm. We will be creating a live original score for BAAL: debuting at the EP Theater for ten nights only from Mid-September-October. Manipulating the sound of the cello and percussive effects, The Loneliest Monk will support this spectacular event by performing live for every performance.
Bertold Brecht’s revolutionary first play is a brutal tour de force of sex, gluttony and unapologetic poetry. The young poet, Baal (Craig Cunningham), alongside friend and young composer, Ekart (Shawn Pfautsch), wreaks havoc in this urban underworld in search of the next couplet, bar fight, woman, or glass of corn brandy to give him a sense of purpose. He consumes everything with his insatiable appetite only to have this world collide with jealousy in the midst of corpses of lovers and friends.
This new production of Brecht’s masterful debut will not only feature The Loneliest Monk, but will display yet another amazing set and costume design by Threadcount’s Christopher Provyn and David Beaupre (Cirque du Soleil, Redmoon, Lookingglass). A splendid time is guaranteed for all.
Check out our schedule for the show dates.
Love.
