Three Nights Only!

Sunday, October 4th, 2009

asa_tlm_ep_embedAutumn has cast its spell on Chicago and the EP Theater is anticipating three dramatic nights of excitement and energy to bring in the season. In case you missed it last time, The Loneliest Monk and Asa Ransom (Brooklyn) will embark on another musical journey together for three nights only October 8, 9, and 10. An incredible set designed by Threadcount and built by Artpentry will surround each act and evoke a time not present. Asa Ransom will keep you dancing with their infectious songs, and The Loneliest Monk shall fill you with dark emotions and beautiful tones. We are fresh from scoring our first play (Brecht’s BAAL) and one critic writes, “The Loneliest Monk provides (a) complex and haunting ambiance.” Don’t miss out!

Recap: The Loneliest Monk Meets Asa Ransom

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

Sierra Dufault with The Loneliest Monk at the Ep Theater - Photo by ishootrockstars.comAs we are coming to our first anniversary of the band, it’s so fun to reminisce about the shows, new experiences, and new people we have met along the way. Last weekend marked memories that we will truly cherish for some time.

The EP Theater in Pilsen housed us for two nights along with Asa Ransom who was traveling through while recording in Alabama. What was only to be a one night show turned into two after realizing the full production we were about to take on. Christopher and David from Thread Count designed the sets and costumes into a roaring twenties theme! Asa’s set was dark and reminiscent of Bowery Boys from the era. Flapper girls balanced the set with black fringe dresses and peacock feathers. They completely rocked their set while an old black and white silent movie emanated from the background.

The Loneliest Monk - Photo by ishootrockstars.comOnce revealed, the Monk set was in all white. It almost felt like the Monk was on an old Hollywood set or the Ed Sullivan Show. A Feather topped Michelle’s head and Miles completed his look with a one-of-a-kind mask designed just for him. The audience took in the whole night and some people mentioned the musical evening was the highlight of their whole weekend, even after attending Pitchfork.

Above all the weekend was a high note of our Summer. We enjoyed our time with Asa Ransom and look forward to our next amazing experience! Check out some of the photos from the evening, shot by the amazing Kyle LaMere.

Next up we will be playing the Milwaukee Ave. Arts Festival on August 1st at noon on the main outdoor stage. Check out our show list for more info.

To those who couldn’t get in (and we know some of you waited in line for a long time), we shall prepare a special treat for you at the next show.
