An Enchanting Evening At The Masquerade Ball.

June 29th, 2010

Dear World.

Our lives have been moving rapidly during the last three months. After our first tour, our Album is picking up motion and the reviews have been nothing but positive and captivating.

The Metromix recently named our upcoming Album Release Party as a TOP July show. Metromix describes the Monk as, “One of the most intriguing shows they have seen in town.” [ check it out! ]

The A.V. Club says “Michelle Morales and Miles Benjamin manage to wring a lot of emotional heft out of their haunting orchestral rock”… [ read more ]

We are amazed by the talent on our bill as we are being supported by Aleks & The Drummer and Hollows, followed by the fabulous CHIRP Radio spinning tunes in an all out dance party after our performance.

Purchase your tickets for the release party at:
http://www.lincolnhallchicago.com

In other TLM news, our weekend was turned upside down into an imaginary world of jesters, dreams, and camera angles. Our first Video shoot took place as Rubbish Films & HYSTK guided us through an experience forever in our memories that we will never forget. We cannot wait for the completed video and are so grateful for the love and support from all the crew and friends who worked endlessly for us last weekend.

Friday night will truly be a celebration of our journey to this point and we will have the opportunity to play in one of the best sounding rooms in the city. Wish us well before we hit the road again on our first East Coast Tour beginning July 8th. Stay tuned for the official announcement and venues..

Bring your masquerade mask and get ready to dance.

Love.

Monk World

November 12th, 2009

Happy Fall.

The leaves have mostly fallen in Chicago as we anticipate the first snow. The Loneliest Monk had an amazing time during the months of September and October. We debuted our score to BAAL: a play directed by EP Theater for a total of 12 shows. With great reviews and a memorable experience we transitioned the set design into 3 nights of musical partnership with our favorite band, Brooklyn’s Asa Ransom. The last night was simply amazing as we performed for a overly packed crowd at the EP. For the first time ever, We were more than two, and Asa Ransom performed “Easy Breathing” with us! The Monk lent cello and drums to Asa’s song, “Relic.” We will never forget that night.

ALBUM NEWS!

We have one more recording session @ Kilo Studios and the record will be finished!!!!!!!

We can’t wait for you to hear it very soon. For all who have pre-ordered and/or just want the album THANK YOU for your patience. Next up is mixing/mastering and the final cut to vinyl.

“The stars, the stars, we are.”

Love.

In case you missed it last time, The Loneliest Monk and Asa Ransom (Brooklyn) will embark on another musical journey together for three nights only October 8, 9, and 10. An incredible set designed by Threadcount and built by Artpentry will surround each act and evoke a time not present. Asa Ransom will keep you dancing with their infectious songs, and The Loneliest Monk shall fill you with dark emotions and beautiful tones. We are fresh from scoring our first play (Brecht’s BAAL) and one critic writes, “The Loneliest Monk provides (a) complex and haunting ambiance.” Don’t miss out!
